About the Company
Compressed Gas Solutions Ltd is a UK based company that supplies packaged, speciality and electronic
gases to customers in the UK and Europe. The company operates from a facility in Sandycroft, Flintshire which it shares with other gas companies that are involved in different aspects of the compressed gases sector. We are a full member of British Compressed Gas Association, who have a fantastic website (www.bcga.co.uk) with information on the industry.
Our apprenticeship program can support you from PEO to FdEng/BEng with mentors across mechanical, chemistry and engineering fields helping you to reach your full potential.
Consideration will be given to any engineering student for entry onto our apprenticeship programme.
During the programme you will be supported to find your passion within the industry in one of our
departments:
– Inspection Body – UKAS accredited inspection body. The apprentice will be trained in the
inspection and periodic test requirements of gas cylinders and pressure drums to national and
international standards using the company quality management system.
– Site Maintenance – General site repair and maintenance of all low-pressure and high-pressure site
equipment for noble gases, liquified refrigerant gases and speciality gas mixtures including vacuum
pumps, high pressure booster pumps, skids, cages, stillages, hoses, pipework, valves, connectors,
equipment framework, building and perimeter repairs, tooling.
– Projects – Design and manufacture parts required for general site repairs and new
tooling/equipment will include Lathe, Milling Machine, Hand power tooling; Drills, Angle Grinders,
Pipe Threaders, Screwdrivers, Bench grinders and wire wheels, Bandsaws, Pillar drills, Various
welding and soldering techniques; TIG, ARC, Silver Soldering, Hand tools; Taps & Dies, Files,
Spanners, Sockets, Hammers, Screwdrivers, Pipe Cutters and Benders, Plasma Cutter, High pressure
testing equipment.
– Cylinder and Drum Filling – The apprentice will be trained in safe gas preparation, conditioning and
filling.
– Waste Processing – The waste department process cylinder and drum contents to enable
continued safe use through the organisation.
Requirements – GCSE’s in Maths and English grade A-C
Studying towards Level 2 Engineering qualification or above
Hours – Full Time with day release for college
Reporting to – Apprentice Lead, Department Managers
Training – Full on-the-job training will be given.
How Will it Work?
Apply –
To begin, the apprentice will be mentored by the Inspection Body Technical Manager with support from authorised inspectors through the inspection body’s training system covering underpinning knowledge of the industry and items you will be inspecting, inspection methods and equipment used, preparation processes, final assembly, and refurbishment. You will spend time working in other departments, finding which route you would like your career to take.
