About the Role
Be The Change Youth Project CIC is looking for an enthusiastic Volunteer Safeguarding Officer to gain practical experience while helping us develop and establish a new Youth Hub and community project at the Botanical Gardens in Rhyl.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided. The volunteer will work alongside experienced staff and local partners to help create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for young people.

Key Responsibilities
The volunteer will support:

Promoting high standards of safeguarding and child protection.
Supporting the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.
Working alongside Denbighshire County Council, the Youth Offending Team and local schools.
Supporting safeguarding arrangements for youth sessions, outreach programmes and community activities.
Helping staff and volunteers understand safeguarding responsibilities and reporting procedures.
Supporting the safe delivery of mental health, wellbeing, sports and youth activities.
Supporting safeguarding arrangements for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and outreach programmes.
Assisting with appropriate recording and reporting of safeguarding concerns.
Attending relevant networking and partnership meetings.
Helping ensure the Youth Hub remains a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for young people.
Training & Development
Full safeguarding training, guidance and supervision will be provided. The role offers an opportunity to develop practical experience in safeguarding, youth work, community development and partnership working, while contributing to the development of a new Youth Hub in Rhyl.

The volunteer will develop skills in communication, safeguarding practice, professional boundaries, record keeping, risk awareness and teamwork.

The volunteer will always work within their level of training and competence and will receive appropriate supervision and support. They will not be expected to independently manage safeguarding cases or make safeguarding decisions without appropriate guidance.
