We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of our childcare centre. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality care and education for children, fostering a positive environment for both staff and families. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with management experience in early childhood settings to contribute to a nurturing and professional team.
Duties
Assist the Manager in overseeing the smooth running of the nursery or childcare facility
Support staff in delivering high standards of childcare and early childhood education
Lead and motivate team members, ensuring effective communication and teamwork
Supervise daily activities, including play, learning, and meal times, ensuring safety and engagement
Organise staff rotas, monitor attendance, and support staff development programmes
Work directly with children, providing care and educational activities tailored to their developmental needs
Maintain strong relationships with parents and carers, providing updates on children’s progress
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and safeguarding policies and procedures
Assist in managing administrative tasks such as record keeping, planning, and reporting
Qualifications
Proven management experience within a childcare or nursery setting
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team
Experience working with children and understanding of early childhood development principles
Knowledge of childcare regulations, safeguarding policies, and health & safety standards
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are preferred
Experience working with children with special needs is advantageous
Valid driving licence is desirable for travelling between sites or community engagement activities
